Description
YahBotter is a program created in VB.NET that allows you to send predefined messages to supported yahoo client chat rooms. This program can be used to “emulate” a person in chat, by simply sending messages that are located in a text file in a random order, at a user-defined interval.
Current Supported Applications : Yahoo Messenger, YahElite, Yazak, and YahEh
Installing the Program
To install the program, simply extract the yahbotter.zip file to any directory you choose. The only files that were originally included in the zip were “yahbotter.exe” and “botscript.txt”. The only requirement to run the program is that the windows machine needs to have the .NET Framework installed. Try running the program, if you get errors when you try to open it, you most likely need the files. You can get the Framework here.
Using the Program
In order to utilize YahBotter, you must first “tag” an available open chat room window. This simply means press the “tag” button when you have your chat room window open. The status window states that you have 5 seconds to locate the chat room input box, where you would normally input text. Simply place your mouse cursor inside of the box. If successful, the program should then ask to put your cursor over the program’s “Send” button, the button you would press in order to send text to the window. You have another 5 seconds to do this. If this is also successful, you should now be able to start the bot! ***If using Yahoo Messenger, then it will not ask to locate the “Send” button.
To start the bot, simply press the “Start”. That’s it! You should now start seeing messages being entered into the room. The messages are being loaded from the “botscript.txt” file, so edit this file in order to add your own lines that you want to appear in the room!
Editing “botscript.txt”
There are three different areas in the text file:
The first area is for Hello’s. This is the initial message that is sent every time you start the bot (if “Use Hello’s” is checked). There is a maximum of 10 hello messages, any more than that will cause errors. It will pick a random line out of this section and send this type of message only once.
The second section is for Intro’s. These is the intro message that is sent after the Hello message (If “Use Hello’s” is checked). There is a maximum of 10 different intro messages, any more than that will cause errors. It will pick a random line out of this section and send this type of message only once.
The last section is the Random lines. This is the heart of the script. These lines will be randomly inserted in at the post interval specified on the program page until the bot is stopped. There is a maximum of 1000 lines :)
*** There can be blank lines in the text file, but the blank lines will be treated as a message with no text
Program Options
Use Hello’s - If this is checked, the program will use the Hello messages located in the script.
Use Intro’s - If this is checked, the program will use the Intro messages located in the script.
Intro Delay - This is the delay of the Intro Message, which is sent after the Hello Message. The default is 30000, which is 30 seconds.
< strong>Post Interval - This is the interval between the Random section of the script. The default is 60000, which is 60 seconds. The first message of this type is sent after the interval has passed. In other words, if it is set at 60 seconds, then the first message will be sent after 60 seconds, not when the bot is first started.
