EZIconConverter is a program I wrote in VB.NET that allows you to create icons from image files. You can quickly create icons from BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, and TIFF formats. Its small, easy to use, and best of all, its FREE!

Installing the Program

To install the program, simply double click the .MSI installation package and run the setup. The only requirement to run the program is that the .NET framework needs to be present on the system.

***NOTE: If you get an error like “Application Failed to Initialize Properly”, then you need the .NET Framework installed on your machine (see link above).

Using the Program

Using EZIconCreator is simple. Simply open up the image that you wish to convert by clicking on “Open IMG”. On opening, EZIconCreator will automatically resize the picture to fit the desired icon sizes. The sizes available are 16 x 16, 32 x 32, 48 x 48, and 64 x 64. By default, the 16 and 32 pixel sizes are checked, and will be included in the resulting icon file. If you wish to also include the 48 and 64 pixel images, simply check their boxes. After that is done, simply click “Create”, and choose where you wish to save the file. To specify a transparency color to set as transparent, simply check “Use Transparency”, and pick the color you wish to set as transparent with the “Pick” button. That is it!
