Aggie charged in manure incident at UT game

BRYAN — A member of the Texas A&M University Parsons Mounted Cavalry accused of throwing horse manure at University of Texas band members before their annual football game has been charged with criminal mischief.
A lieutenant from the A&M university police said he saw John Richmond Sullivan, 20, throw a shovel full of horse feces at the opposing team’s band members at Kyle Field, according to an affidavit.
The incident came before kickoff of the annual game between No. 2 Texas and Texas A&M. Texas beat their archrivals 40-29.
Sullivan was arrested and released from the Brazos County Jail after posting $2,000 bail.
UT band director Robert Carnochan told police that he and the band members didn’t want to press charges, but did want Texas A&M to discipline Sullivan.
Texas A&M doesn’t usually take disciplinary action until an investigation is complete, said David Parrott, dean of student life.
“We look dimly on any student treating a guest of the university in such a manner that’s inconsistent with Aggie values,” Parrott said.
Parsons Mounted Cavalry is the only collegiate military cavalry unit in the nation.
