Hurricane Rita
Well, Rita came and went in a hurry. Bryan/College Station was right on the western edge of the rain lines. There were a few sprinkles early this mornin at about 5-ish, but other than that, it was all wind. Feel sorry for New Orleans, who once again had to deal with breaking levies and what not. Right now Rita is drenching Arkansas, whereas here, it is nice and calm. My brother headed back out to Houston earlier today to beat the traffic. He made the trip in 2 hours versus the 12 it took him to get up here.
As usual, I had my normal computer problems to fix when people come over. Had to reinstall windows on my bro’s comp when he broke it installing Service Pack 2… I tried disabling all kinds of services in Advanced Recovery Console, but it would still reboot right after the initial Windows XP screen, before it gets to the login attemp. Safe Mode, VGA Mode, etc etc… nothing worked. Same problem. Even tried running the SP2 Uninstall at the advanced recovery console to no avail. (*HINT* Do a thorough virus and spyware scan before installing Service Pack 2!). Finally, I decided to do a fresh install, which I hate doing because I’m always convinced that you should never have to reinstall an operating system (I have yet to do so on my Laptop of 5 years or my PC of 2 years). After a fresh install, Service Pack 2 installed without a hitch…
